In June 2019 (back when we could still go to concerts) Ray went down to Slane Castle, Ireland, as a guest of Metallica for their headline show.

38 years ago, Ray, and Sweet Savage were the first band to hit the stage at the very first Slane Castle festival in Ireland. Over the years, its gone on to host shows from some of the biggest bands and artists the world has to offer, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, U2, R.E.M., Bryan Adams, Guns’n’Roses to name only a handful.

The show on that very first festival featured Thin Lizzy as the headliners, supported by a young U2, on the road promoting their debut record Boy. Opening the day, was Sweet Savage. Ray Haller, Trev Fleming, Davy Bates and Vivian Campbell.

This year, 38 years on, it was great to reconnect with some old friends, Larry and Adam from U2, meet some new people (who we really should know) Northern Ireland’s own Stiff Little Fingers, and of course, to hang out with Metallica backstage. Its amazing to watch the MEGA band they have become!

If you missed it, you can relive their full show from Slane Castle at the link below, unfortunately there is no Killing Time on this one….
